Cette romance est l'histoire d'une seconde chance. Iris et Hunter se sont connus très jeunes, mais n'ayant pas une grande confiance en elle et dans les sentiments d'Hunter, elle s'est éloignée de lui et l'a repoussé par peur que son histoire ne dure pas... Iris n'a pas eu une vie facile, sa mère était une relou qui faisait arnaque sur arnaque et la négligeait.

Aujourd'hui, 12 ans plus tard, Iris a la garde de son petit frère Theo depuis que leur mère est en prison, il est devenu sa priorité. Elle espère également bientôt ouvrir un magasin. Sa route va recroiser Hunter par hasard, c'est lui qui donne des cours de rattrapage à Theo pendant l'été.

Hunter revient à Green Valley après 12 ans, histoire de se ressourcer après un divorce et un changement de job. Il ne s'attendait pas à revoir Iris, son seul et grand amour. Dans cette série, les mâles Buchanan ont la malédiction du grand amour, quand ils savent qui est leur âme soeur c'est pour la vie. Pour Hunter c'était Iris depuis leur adolescence.

Ces deux-là n'ont jamais arrêté de s'aimer : Iris avait besoin de lâcher prise et se faire confiance en la vie quand elle apporte des bonnes choses, et à croire qu'Hunter serait toujours là pour elle. Hunter ne voulait pas forcer Iris à être avec lui, alors il a accepté de partir, maintenant qu'il est de retour il ne veut pas laisser passer sa chance une 2e fois, mais le plus dur sera de convaincre Iris de croire en ses sentiments.

This romance is a second chance story. Iris and Hunter met very young, but she didn't great confidence in her and in Hunter's feelings, she distanced herself from him and pushed him away for fear that their love story wouldn't last... Iris didn't have an easy life, her mother was a jerk who made scam after scam and neglected her.

Today, 12 years later, Iris has custody of her little brother Theo since their mother is in prison, he has become her priority. She also hopes to open a store soon. Her path will come across Hunter again, he is Theo's tutor during the summer school.

Hunter returns to Green Valley after 12 years to recharge after a divorce and quitting his job. He didn't expect to see Iris again, his only and great love. In this series, the Buchanan males have the curse of true love, when they know who their soulmate is, it's for life. For Hunter it had been Iris since their teenage years.

These two never stopped loving each other : Iris needed to let go and trust in life when it brings good things, and to believe that Hunter would always be there for her. Hunter didn't want to force Iris to be with him, so he agreed to leave, now that he's back he doesn't want to miss his chance a 2nd time, but the hard part will be to convince Iris to believe in his feelings.

Stranger Than Fiction

Résumé : Rule number one of former child stardom - never Google yourself in the midst of a pity party because you'll inevitably do something stupid. Case in point, me falling for a writer on a different continent who has no idea that I'm the star of her fictional fantasies.

I can’t stop thinking about Kate Dubois even as we talk everyday.
I should have told her the truth of who I was before things got this far.
In my defense, celebrity comes with a lot of baggage and it is nice to be seen (figuratively) for who I really am.

Now, I have a chance to actually meet her in person and there’s no way I can pass that up.
Just one harmless look at the woman who has changed my life and I can go back to hiding in English countryside obscurity.
What’s the worst that could happen ?


Quel(le) fan n'a jamais rêvé de pouvoir un jour échanger et même rencontrer son acteur favoris ? Cette romance de Piper Sheldon concrétise cela et en plus c'est très bien amené et très bien écrit.

Charlie a été propulsé dans la célébrité enfant, lui et ses 2 meilleurs amis étaient les stars d'une série TV de science-fiction qui a eu un méga succès et continue encore 20 ans plus tard. Contrairement aux 2 autres, Charlie n'a pas été un modèle de vertue lorsque la série s'est arrêtée : excès, alcool, scandales, tabloïds... Il en est venu à vivre isolé dans une grosse bâtisse perdue dans la campagne anglaise, avec pour seule compagnie une vieille dame polonaise qui lui fait son ménage et ses repas.

Un soir, au bord de la déprime, il se googlelise et tombe par hasard sur une fanfiction très populaire mettant à l'honneur son personnage. La surprise ne s'arrêtant pas là, cette fanfiction est merveilleusement écrite et les intrigues sont bien menées que cela en pourrait être des scenarios officiels. Charlie ne peut pas s'empêcher de tout lire et ça lui fait un bien fou. Sans même réfléchir, il va écrire -anonymement- un message de remerciement à l'auteur...

Et cet auteur c'est Kate, fan incontestée de la série de SF, elle rêve de devenir écrivain et de publier son 1er roman. Pour le moment c'est dans la fanfiction qu'elle s'épanouit, ses histoires plaisent énormément et elle a sa propre fanbase. Elle reçoit donc plein de messages, mais son attention va être attiré vers l'un d'eux, différent des autres. Elle y décèle une vulnérabilité et décide d'y répondre.

De là commence un échange inattendu. Charlie et Kate sortent rapidement du contexte de la fanfiction et vont alors parler de leurs rêves, de leurs problèmes, s'apportant chacun soutien et compréhension. Kate n'hésite pas à dire tout de suite qui elle est, mais Charlie reste anonyme, pensant que si son identité est dévoilé, tout changera.

Et tout va changer lorsque les studios veulent organiser un évènement pour les 20 ans de la série en invitant les acteurs, des fans, et en organisant des rencontres et des jeux filmés. Charlie refuse d'y aller, pour lui ce n'est que des mauvais souvenirs, mais quand il apprend que Kate a été invitée, il ne peut pas s'empêcher d'y voir une chance de la rencontrer (même si elle ne sait pas qui il est).

Sur ce je n'en dis pas plus, parce que sinon je me met à raconter tout le bouquin xD

Evidemment, toute personne normalement constitué verra dans le trio de jeunes acteurs une méga référence à Harry Potter, mais heureusement pour moi ça s'arrête là LOL. Ce livre m'a aussi beaucoup fait penser à Firefly : l'engouement toujours présent, le lien entre les acteurs et leurs fans qui dure depuis des années malgré l'arrêt de la série.

La rencontre en Kate et Charlie d'abord en épistolaire puis en vrai est très bien amenée, les deux personnages ont plus de profondeur et de subtilités que dans d'autres romances sur le schéma star/fan. Il m'a même arraché une larmichette !

J'ai découvert Piper Sheldon avec ses livres dans les Smartypants Romance, et je ne peux que vous conseiller de les lire, ceux-là et sa série "The Unseen", un mélange mi fantastique mi super-héroïne.

Which fan has never dreamed of being able to chat and even meet their favorite actor ? This romance by Piper Sheldon concretizes that and it is very well brought and very well written.

Charlie was rocketed into stardom as a child, he and his 2 best friends were the stars of a sci-fi TV series which was a mega hit and is still going strong 20 years later. Unlike the other two actros, Charlie was not a model of virtue when the series ended : excess, alcohol, scandals, tabloids... He decided to live isolated in a large house lost in the English countryside, with the only company of an old Polish lady who does his housework and his meals.

One evening, on the verge of depression, he googles himself and stumbles upon a very popular fanfiction about his character. The surprise doesn't stop there, this fanfiction is wonderfully written and the plots are so well conducted than it could be official scenarios. Charlie can't stop reading everything and it does him a world of good. Without even thinking, he write -anonymously- a message of thanks to the author...

And this author is Kate, an undisputed fan of the Sci-Fi series, she dreams of becoming a writer and publishing her first novel. For the moment it is in fanfiction that she flourishes, her stories are very popular and she has her own fanbase. She therefore receives a lot of messages, but her attention is drawn to one of them, different from the others. She detects a vulnerability and decides to respond to it.

From there begins an unexpected exchange. Charlie and Kate quickly step out of the context of fanfiction and go on to talk about their dreams, their problems, each providing support and understanding. Kate does not hesitate to say right away who she is, but Charlie remains anonymous, thinking that if his identity is revealed, everything will change.

And everything will change when the studios want to do an event for the 20th anniversary of the series by inviting actors, fans, and by organizing meetings and filmed games. Charlie refuses to go, for him it's just bad memories, but when he learns that Kate has been invited, he can't help but see it as a chance to meet her (even if she still doesn't know who he is).

On this I won't say more, because otherwise I'll start telling the whole book xD

Obviously, anyone normally constituted will see in the trio of young actors a mega reference to Harry Potter, but fortunately for me it stops there LOL. This book also reminded me a lot of Firefly : the ever-present enthusiasm, the bond between the actors and their fans that is still here despite the end of the series years ago.

The meeting of Kate and Charlie first in letters and then in real life is very well done, the two characters have more depth and subtleties than in other romances on the star/fan scheme. The book even tore a teardrop out off me !

I discovered Piper Sheldon with her books in Smartypants Romance, and I can only advise you to read them, those and her series "The Unseen", a mixture half fantastic half super-heroine.

Neanderthal Seeks Duchess

Qui aurait cru un jour qu'on aurait dans nos mains, la version romance historique de "Neanderthal Seeks Human" le tout premier roman ce Penny Reid ? Cette idée saugrenue s'est enfin réalisé avec Laney Hatcher, la tâche n'était pas simple : transposer une intrigue contemporaine dans une autre époque, et pourtant ça fonctionne très bien. Si bien que j'avais envie de relire le livre de Penny Reid juste après, et j'ai tellement hâte de livre les tomes suivants (oui parce qu'il va y en avoir d'autres !!). Laney Hatcher est aussi arrivée à s'approprier l'histoire originale pour en faire la sienne, tout comme les personnages, tout n'est évidemment pas pareil, mais on soupçonne ça et là des références et indices sur les histoires à venir ^^

Lady Jane menait une vie plutôt indépendante : un discret travail de comptable auprès qu'autres ladies pour les aider à gérer leur maisonnée, un fiancé... Tout bascule quand elle le trouve dans les bras d'une autre, met fin aux fiançailles et refuse de pardonner le poltron. Scandale ! Ses clientes l'abandonne l'une après l'autre, sa situation serait devenue critique si un bel et ténébreux inconnu ne l'avait pas aidé à s'extirper d'une soirée avant d'en être la risée. Mais qui est donc ce "Lord Dashing" ? Les spéculations vont bons train lorsqu'elle raconte son aventures à son groupe de broderie.

Jane le recroise à nouveau à une soirée masquée, l'attirance est bien présente entre les deux, mais Lord Dashing refuse de révélé qui il est tout de suite, une simple initiale suffira pour le moment : Q. Quelques péripéties plus tard, Jane se retrouve à travailler pour Q, pour l'aider à faire sens de plusieurs livres de comptes cryptés du club qu'il a racheté. Au fur et à mesure que Jane en apprend plus sur Q, une mystérieuse menace apparait. S'il veut protéger Jane, Q va devoir faire des révélations, si possible avant que Jane ne les apprennent pas quelqu'un d'autre...

Pas besoin de connaitre les Penny Reid pour apprécier la romance historique, l'intrigue est bien menée, avec des rebondissements. Là où cela devient plus fun c'est de voir comment sont toutes les copines de la bandes en version régence, on a tout petit riquiqui aperçu de comment seront Nico et Alex, mais j'en dis pas plus ^^ évidemment on croise Dan avec Q. et comme toujours, on ne peut que couiner sur Dan.
J'ai beaucoup plus apprécié Q version historique que Quinn version contemporain, même s'ils ont tous les deux leur côté grognon taciturne, Q tend plus vers le nounours cro meugnon ♥.

Who would have thought that we would have one day in our hands, the historical romance version of "Neanderthal Seeks Human" the very first novel this Penny Reid ? This crazy idea finally came true with Laney Hatcher, the task was not easy : transposing a contemporary plot into previous historical era, and yet it works very well. So much so that I wanted to reread Penny Reid's book right after, and I can't wait to read the following books (yes because there will be others !!). Laney Hatcher also managed to claim the original story to herselft and make it her own story, just like the characters, everything is obviously not the same, but we can find here and there references and clues to future stories ^^

Lady Jane led a rather independent life : a discreet job as an accountant for other ladies to help them manage their household, a fiancé... Everything changes when she finds him in the arms of another woman, ends the engagement and refuses to forgive the coward. Scandal ! Her clients abandon her one after another, her situation would have become critical if a beautiful and dark stranger had not helped her to escape from an party before being the laughing stock. But who is this "Lord Dashing" ? Speculation is rife when she recounts her adventures to her embroidery group.

Jane meets him again at a masked ball, the attraction is very present between the two, but Lord Dashing refuses to reveal who he is right away, a simple initial will suffice for the moment : Q. A few adventures later, Jane finds himself working for Q, to help him make sense of several encrypted ledgers from a club he bought out. As Jane learns more about Q, a mysterious threat appears. If he wants to protect Jane, Q is going to have to come clean, if possible before Jane finds out from someone else...

No need to know the Penny Reids books to appreciate the historical romance, the plot is well done, with twists and turns. Where it becomes more fun is to see how all the friends of the knitting group are in regency version, we have a very small glimpse of how Nico and Alex will be, but I won't say more ^^ obviously we meet Dan with Q. and as always, we can only swoon about Dan.
I appreciated Q historical version much more than Quinn contemporary version, even if they both have their taciturn grumpy side, Q tends more towards the cute teddy bear ♥.
