Je commencerais cette review avec un souhait que Penny Reid nous offre du futurs livres sur la nouvelle génération des Knitting in the City car c'était vraiment top ! Et que dire de tous les moments avec nos héros et héroïnes précédents ? Un vrai petit pincement au coeur de les retrouver.

Ava et Des sont les meilleurs amis du monde, ils ont passé toute leur enfance ensemble, inséparables. Jusqu'à leur 15 ans, où Des est parti sans prévenir en coupant tous liens avec elle. 10 ans plus tard, ils se retrouvent par hasard à une soirée où tous les deux prétendent être quelqu'un d'autre.

Ava ne sait plus si elle doit être en colère qu'il l'ait abandonné ou lui sauter au coup de joie de l'avoir retrouver. Pour Des, revoir Ava fait remonter des souvenirs plus ou moins joyeux. Reconnecter avec Ava signifie reconnecter avec toute leur famille, et on ne peut pas dire qu'il soit parti en bon terme avec son père.

Ava et Des sont faits l'un pour l'autre, nous lectrice on le sait et même leur famille le savent (ils ont même un groupe whatsapp juste pour eux xD). Ce n'est donc qu'une question de temps et de discussions avant qu'ils le découvrent aussi, enfin plutôt qu'ils se l'admettent car maintenant qu'ils sont adultes, ils repensent à leur adolescence différemment.

Ce livre est une comédie romantique, cependant Penny amène pas mal de gravité et surtout avec Desmond, les souffrances causées par sa maladie mentale (il est bipolaire) à lui-même et à sa relation avec papa Quinn. Tout est écrit avec justesse et sans fioritures.

Penny nous montre que nos héros fictifs n'ont pas forcément eu un happy end parfait, qu'ils ont fait parfois de mauvais choix avec des conséquences sur plusieurs années. Cependant, il ne faut pas perdre espoir car quand les planètes s'alignent et que la réconciliation peut être possible, il ne faut pas hésiter. Les passages entre Des et papa Quinn sont ceux qui m'ont le plus piqué les yeux *-*

I would start this review with a wish that Penny Reid would give us future books on the new generation of Knitting in the City because it was really great ! And all the moments with our previous heroes and heroines ? A real heartache to see them again.

Ava and Des are best friends, they spent their entire childhood together, inseparable. Until they were 15, when Des left without warning, cutting all ties with her. 10 years later, they meet again by chance at a party where they both pretend to be someone else.

Ava doesn't know if she should be angry that he abandoned her or jump at him with joy at having found him again. For Des, seeing Ava again brings back more or less happy memories. Reconnecting with Ava means reconnecting with their entire families, and we can't say he left on good terms with his father.

Ava and Des are made for each other, we readers know it and even their family knows it (they even have a WhatsApp group just for them xD). So it's only a matter of time and discussion before they discover it too, or rather admit it to themselves because now that they are adults, they think about their adolescence differently.

This book is a romantic comedy, however Penny brings a lot of seriousness and especially with Desmond, the suffering caused by his mental illness (he is bipolar) to himself and to his relationship with Daddy Quinn. Everything is written accurately and without embellishment.

Penny shows us that our fictional heroes did not necessarily have a perfect happy ending, that sometimes they made bad choices with consequences lasting several years. However, we must not lose hope because when the planets align and reconciliation may be possible, we must not hesitate. The passages between Des and Daddy Quinn are the ones that sting my eyes the most *-*
