J'ai beaucoup aimé l'histoire de Naomi et Nathan, amants dans leur vingtaine la vie les a séparé et les remet sur le même chemin 18 ans plus tard. Même après tout ce temps et des parcours radicalement opposés, l'attraction est toujours là, et aucun ne veut laisser passer cette deuxième chance.

Naomi n'a eu qu'un seul grand amour, Nathan, après cette fameuse nuit passée ensemble, un évènement tragique s'est produit et elle a culpabilisé (d'autant que ses parents n'ont rien fait d'autre pour l'aider que de l'enfoncer dans sa faute et ses comportements immoraux...). N'ayant aucun moyen de contacter Nathan et croulant sous une fausse responsabilité, elle n'a jamais voulu avoir d'autres histoires... Si on ajoute à cela qu'elle est devenu Wiccan et que les débiles de Green Valley la traite de sorcière, Naomi a toujours eu le sentiments d'être à la marge, ne se sentant bien que chez elle au milieu de la nature et à la bibliothèque, surtout auprès des jeunes lecteurs ^^

Nathan n'a jamais oublié la jeune fille vibrante qu'il a rencontré un soir, passant une magique avec elle, qui s'est suivi par la pire nuit de sa vie. Un accident, des problèmes avec les Wraights, et Nathan doit quitter Green Valley. Avec deux petites filles (dont les mères n'ont plus voulu s'occuper) Nathan revient chez lui pour être plus près de sa mère et son frère. Un jour, il croise Naomi par hasard et l'attirance revient en trombe, il veut en savoir plus sur cette femme qui l'avait déjà fasciné 18 ans plus tôt.

en 18 ans, on change beaucoup, on a pris du recul et on sait qu'on ne refera pas les mêmes erreurs. Nathan et Naomi ont une deuxième chance, et c'est pas des bikers qui vont les en empêcher non mais ! Ca fait plaisir aussi d'avoir une romance avec des héros dans la 40aine, qui ont bourlingué, et qui ne se posent plus 12 milles questions existentielles (enfin peut-être toujours pour Naomi ^^). Et puis j'adore l'ambiance de cette bibliothèque, elle donne envie d'aller y passer ses journées :)

I loved the story of Naomi and Nathan, they were lovers in their twenties then life separated them and, 18 years later, puts them on the same path. Even after all this time and radically different lifes, the attraction is still there, and neither of them wants to miss this second chance.

Naomi had only one great love, Nathan, after this magical night together, a tragic event occurred and she felt guilty (especially since her parents didn't do anything else to help her except putting her deeper in guilt saying it was her fault and by her immoral behavior...). Having no way to contact Nathan and crumbling under a false responsibility, she never wanted to have anyone else in her life... If we add to that that she became a Wiccan and that the stupid folks of Green Valley treats her like a witch, Naomi always had the feeling of being a marginal, only feeling good at home in the middle of nature and at the library, especially with young readers ^^ and than Nathan resurfaces and her long-buried feelings release and mess up everything !

Nathan never forgot the vibrant girl he met one night, passing a magic night with her, which followed the worst night of his life. An accident, problems with the Wraights, and Nathan must leave Green Valley. With two little girls (whose mothers did not want to take care of them anymore) Nathan returns home to be closer to his mother and his brother. One day, he meets Naomi by chance and the attraction comes back, he wants to know more about this woman who had already fascinated him 18 years earlier.

in 18 years, we change a lot, we have distance and we know we will not make the same mistakes. Nathan and Naomi have a second chance, and not even bikers will not stop them ! It is also a pleasure to have a romance with heroes in the 40s, who have some experience of life, and who no longer ask themselves 12 thousand existential questions (well, maybe it is still the case for Naomi ^^). And I love the atmosphere of this library, it makes you want to go spend his days :)

Yet, when an early snowstorm threatens the mountains, and Ranger Daniels is charged with getting hikers to safety, that includes hot-tempered Olive Perry. Snowed in and forced to share an abandoned cabin, can Olive's heated intensity melt Jay's cool reserve?

And if so, will this happy trail lead to true love? Or will their time together be just another bump in the road?


Ma première impression après avoir lu ce livre était qu'il m'a apporté une grande bouffée d'oxygène, comme si j'avais passé un weekend détente en pleine nature dans les Appalaches.

Même si Olive passe des mois à faire la randonnée complète de la chaîne de montagne ("Appalachian Trail" qui traverse 14 états et fait au total 3 510 km -je suis allée vérifier-), ce qui est donc très physique, on en ressort avec l'impression paisible de s'être bien ressourcé. Daisy Prescott a réussi à nous faire visualiser les montagnes, la nature, les animaux, mais aussi les conditions climatiques qui peuvent mettre les randonneurs en danger.

C'est donc là que le roman démarre, une tempête arrive et Ranger Jay doit vérifier que tous les randonneurs du jour dans sa zone sont bien arrivés au refuge, mais il en manque une ! Jay retrouve Olive juste à temps pour se mettre à l'abris dans une vieille cabane. Olive accepte à contre-coeur de rester avec le Ranger, pensant que ce sera juste pour quelques heure, le temps que le gros de la tempête passe.

seulement, rien ne va se passer comme prévu, Olive et Jay vont devoir passer quelques jours de plus dans leur mini cabane xD et pour passer le temps, ils ne peuvent que se parler ah ! Exercice pas agréable pour un ranger taciturne qui préfère les oiseaux aux êtres humains et une jeune femme qui aspire à une quiétude anonyme après que le grand fiasco de sa vie amoureuse a été étalée sur les réseaux sociaux et la presse people...

Olive et Jay arrive néanmoins à se livrer l'un à l'autre, de toute façon ils ne se reverront plus après n'est-ce pas ? xD mais lorsqu'enfin ils arrivent à la station de ranger et qu'il faut donc reprendre chacun sa route... pourquoi ce tiraillement à l'idée de se quitter ?

My first impression after reading this book was that it brought me a great breath of air, as if I had spent a relaxing weekend in the wilderness in the Appalachian Mountains.

Even though Olive spends months hiking the entire mountain chain (the "Appalachian Trail" which crosses 14 states and is 3 510 km/2 192 miles long -I checked-out), which is very physical, we hold on to the peaceful impression of having revitalized ourselves. Daisy Prescott has managed to show us the mountains, the nature, the animals, but also the climatic conditions that can put hikers at risk.

This is where the novel starts, a storm comes and Ranger Jay has to check that all the hikers of the day in his area have arrived at the camp, but one woman is missing ! Jay finds Olive just in time to find shelter in an old hut. Olive reluctantly agrees to stay with the Ranger, thinking it will be just for a few hours, until the storm's over.

Only, nothing happens as expected, Olive and Jay have to spend a few more days in their mini cabin xD and to pass the time, they can only talk to each other ah ! This is not an easy thing for a taciturn ranger who prefers birds to humans and a young woman who aspires to anonymous tranquility after her love life fiasco was steamed live on social networks and tabloids...

Olive and Jay nonetheless manage to talk to one another, they will not see each other again anyway, will they ? xD but when they finally arrive at the ranger station, each must get back to their work/trail... so why did they feel weird at the idea of ​​leaving the other ?

Pour les lectrices assidues de Penny Reid, les deux héros de cette romance ne seront pas inconnus car ils étaient tous les deux des personnages secondaires, et là enfin ils ont droit à leur moment *couinage*. Doctor Ken Miles (DKM pour les intimes) on le rencontre dans le tome d'Elizabeth et Nico, où il n'était pas présenté sous son meilleur jour mais ici il se transforme d'un coup en choupi-chou... Steven, qui travaille avec Janie et Quinn à Cipher Security (on le croise aussi dans Code of Conduct) l'est tout autant ^^.

Je dois dire que c'est la première romance M/M que je lis, ce n'est pas un genre qui m'attire particulièrement et j'ai bien fait de commencer avec une romance sur des personnages et un univers que je connais déjà :D . Stella Weaver écrit très bien et équilibre parfaitement des scènes d'humour, de couinage et d'émotion.

Je suis passée un peu par tous les stades émotionnels avec ce roman. Même si Steven et DKM vont affronter des challenges de vie pas super joyeux et que la tension dramatique est bien présente, ce roman est rempli d'humour avec des dialogues énormes et des situations cocasses. Ajoutez à cela beaucoup de tendresse, ça en fait l'un de mes favoris de toutes les Smartypants Romance. Si vous ne pouvez pas tous les lire, il faut moins lire celui-là !

For regular readers of Penny Reid, the two heroes of this romance will not be unknown because they were both secondary characters, and finally they have their moment *squealing*. we meet Doctor Ken Miles (DKM for intimates) in the book about Elizabeth and Nico, where he was not shown at his best, but here he suddenly turns into a yummy hottie... Steven, who works with Janie and Quinn at Cipher Security (we also see him in Code of Conduct) is just as good ^^.

I have to say that this is the first M/M romance I read, it's not a genre that attracts me particularly and I was right to start with a romance about characters and a universe that I already know :D. Stella Weaver writes very well and perfectly balances scenes of humor, squeakings and emotions.

I went through all the emotional stages with this novel. Even though Steven and DKM will face life challenges and the dramatic tension, this novel is full of humor with awesome dialogues and funny situations. Add to that a lot of tenderness, this makes it one of my favorites of all Smartypants Romance. If you can't read them all, you have to read this one at least !
