Le résumé n'est pas très précis, mais pour bien comprendre ce qui passe : Zora est docteur en communication et travaille dans un hôpital sur le lien patient/médecin. Comme tout universitaire, la vie est pas facile entre les recherches et les demandes de financements... Et la famille qui essaie de la voir casée. Nick débarque tout d'un coup, il a fondé une société qui des développe des applications en lien avec la médecine. Ah oui, Nick c'est aussi le grand amour de jeunesse de Zora, ils avaient prévu de faire leur vie ensemble mais Nick a dû partir, laissant Zora sans aucune explication. Ca c'était il y a 12 ans.

Evidemment, quand ils se retrouvent face à face tous les sentiments refoulés pendant des années remontent à la surface. Nick doit faire face aux évènements passés qui l'ont légèrement traumatisé et trouver le courage de tout expliquer à Zora. De son côté, comprendre les raisons de Nick va nécessiter une petite remise en question.

J'ai bien aimé cette histoire car on sait dès le départ que Zora et Nick sont fait l'un pour l'autre et l'auteur nous titille en faisant durer le plaisir du moment où ils vont enfin se sauter dessus. Cependant, j'aurais apprécié que Nick parle à Zora plus tôt dans l'histoire, il y a eu au moins 2 occassions où c'était possible, donc au bout d'un moment j'avais envie de le secouer xD.

Hope Ellis arrive très bien à montrer que des adultes peuvent avoir du mal à se détacher des erreurs d'ados, que certains évènements marquent une personnalité et que c'est pas simple de s'en défaire. Plusieurs fois il m'est arrivé de lire des romances où les héros trainent leurs problèmes comme un boulet en me demandant pourquoi ils vivaient toujours dans le passé (ça peut énerver xD), ici je n'ai pas trop eu cette impression c'est un peu plus subtile.

Les personnages secondaires promettent des choses intéressantes pour les prochains tomes de cette série. Mention spéciale pour Jackson James, hâte de lire son tome à lui, depuis le temps qu'on le connaît ^^

The summary is not very precise, here is what the book is about : Zora is a PhD in communication and works in a hospital on the patient/doctor relationship. Like all academics, life is not easy between research and requests for grants... And her family wants to see her married. Nick suddenly arrives, he founded a company that develops applications related to medicine. And yes, Nick is also Zora's childhood only love, they had planned to live together but Nick had left, leaving Zora without any explanation. It was 12 years ago.

Obviously, when they reunited without warning, all the repressed feelings come to the surface. Nick has to face past events that have slightly traumatized him and find the courage to explain everything to Zora. For her, understanding Nick's reasons will require a little reassessment.

I liked this story because we know from the start that Zora and Nick are made for each other and the author tickles us by drawing out the pleasure as long as possible for when they finally jumping each other. However, I would have appreciated that Nick spoke to Zora earlier in the story, there have been at least 2 occassions where it was possible, so after a while I wanted to shake him xD.

Hope Ellis is very good at showing that adults can find it difficult to detach themselves from teenage mistakes, that certain events mark a personality and that it's not easy to get rid of them. Many times I have read romances where the heroes drag their problems like a canonball making me cringe on why they still lived in the past (it can annoy me xD), here I did not have that impression too much, it was a little more subtle.

The secondary characters promise interesting things for the next books in this series. Special mention for Jackson James, I'm eager to read his volume, since we know him from some time now ^^

J'avais adoré le tome 1 "Code of Conduct", gros coup de coeur pour celui-là également !

Déjà l'intrigue tient en suspense tout le long du roman, le rythme est parfait, on en apprend petit à petit et les indices se dévoilent pour lever le mystère sur le lien entre le vol de 2 tableaux : un 30 ans plus tôt et l'autre au début de l'histoire. l'histoire derrière le mystère est d'ailleurs plutôt touchante.

Le couple de héros ne pourrait pas être plus différent l'un de l'autre, mais c'est pour ça qu'ils vont très bien ensemble et que l'alchimie passe entre eux comme du courant électrique ! Anna est la jumelle bizarre de la paire, elle est chasseuse de prime, garçon manqué, et n'a aucun filtre. Elle dit ce qu'elle pense quand elle le pense et n'a même plus le temps d'être embarrassée à cause de ça. Elle adore les jeux de rôles et s'est construit un personnage de badass, style Robin des Bois au féminin, "Honor" et essaie d'agir selon ses principes (vous voyez d'où vient le titre). Pour elle, voler le tableau représentant sa mère et sa tante à un business man véreux, n'est que justice pour sa maman.

Darius a beau ressembler à une version sexy d'Aladdin, il est tout l'opposé d'Anna. Déjà il crée des système de sécurité, dont celui de la maison qu'Anna cambriole, de quoi le titiller hein. Ensuite son histoire personnelle est assez dure, sans rentrer dans tous les détails sinon ça spoile, il a appris très tôt a avoir des responsabilité et à agir pour ce qui est juste. C'est pourquoi son attirance pour Anna le perturbe, comment pourrait-il être avec elle, alors que sa façon de vivre sa vie bouscule quelqu'un de ses principes ?...

c'est en travaillant à résoudre le mystère du tableau volé il y a 30 ans que chacun va apprendre l'autre et voir qu'il y a beaucoup de gris entre le noir et le blanc (oulala c'est bateau comme phrase mais je l'ai piqué ce roman ... pas à l'autre xD). J'ai beaucoup aimé Anna c'est une Wonder Woman qui referme pas mal d'insécurité et Darius est vraiment un prince de Disney qui n'a pas peur des bizarreries de cette nana qui lui est tombée dessus ^^

I loved book 1 "Code of Conduct", this one is a big favorite too !

First, the intrigue holds us in suspense throughout the novel, the rhythm is perfect, the story clues are revealed little by little in order to lift the mystery on the the theft of 2 paintings : one stole 30 years ago and the other at the beginning of the book. the story behind the mystery is also rather touching.

The couple couldn't be more different from each other, but that's why they go so very well together and the chemistry between them is like electric current ! Anna is the weird twin, a bounty hunter, tomboy, and she has no filters. She says what she thinks when she thinks it and doesn't even have the time to be embarrassed because of it. She loves role playing and has built a badass character, Robin Hood style a a woman, "Honor" and tries to act according to her rules (you see where the title comes from). For her, stealing the painting of her mother and aunt from a crooked business man is only justice for her mother.

Darius may look like a sexy Aladdin, but he is the opposite of Anna. He is creating security systems, including the one inside the house that Anna is robbing, that's enough to tickle him, eh. His personal story is quite hard, without spoiling it, he learned very early to have responsibilities and to act for what is right. This is why his attraction for Anna disturbs him, how could he be with her, when her way of living her life goes against his rules ?

It is while working to solve the mystery of the stolen painting 30 years ago that they will learn from each other and see that there is a lot of gray between black and white (yes it is a lame phrase but I I stole it from this novel ... not to the other book xD). I really liked Anna, she is a Wonder Woman who hides a lot of insecurity and Darius is really a Disney prince who is not afraid of the quirks of this girl who fell on him ^^

Frankie Reeves is complicated, even though she won’t admit it. She fills her days working as an ER nurse, taking care of her mom, and searching for the father she never knew. Anything else has no place in her perfectly compartmentalized, purposefully simple life. Attachments? No thank you. She has no time for that.

Gunnar Erickson recently moved to Green Valley to train at Viking MMA with his brother Cage. Being the youngest of the Erickson clan, he’s always felt like he has something to prove, and now that he’s finished with college, it’s his time to shine. But before he can step into the ring, a freak accident sends him to the ER and into the care of one Frankie Reeves.

While he’s immediately smitten, she pretends to be unfazed by this six-foot-three, two hundred and thirty-pound beefcake. Gunnar sets out to prove to Frankie that, not only does she like him more than she wants to admit, but he’s not the uneducated, brute she assumes he is. To Frankie, he’s the worst kind of complication, but that doesn’t make it easy to stay away.


Cette romance est toute mignonne entre Frankie et Gunnar, mais j'avoue que je suis pas super fan de l'instalove. Heureusement, ils ne le sont pas tous les deux ! j'ai aussi eu une toute petite impression que les deux louveteaux avançaient un peu rapidement à un moment, même s'il y a quelques ellipses dans l'histoire.

Gunnar a un coup de foudre, ça peut se comprendre mais un bisou et il pense au mariage, à 22 ans... xD c'est un peu too much, un peu trop parfait aussi, il me semble pas avoir vu des défauts pour lui, c'est Frankie qui porte toutes les failles et faiblesses dans cette histoire, et en écrivant là, je me dis qu'on est sur le schéma du viking charmant qui arrivent sur son drakkar blanc. Par chance, Frankie a l'intelligence de se sauver elle-même, car il fallait qu'elle fasse les choses toute seule pour qu'on évite de justesse le sauvetage par l'amour. J'étais partie avec un bon sentiment et maintenant je suis plus mitigée, comme quoi vive l'exercice de la review.

Jiffy Kate a écrit sur le grand frère de Gunnar, Cage ("Stud Muffin"), et son histoire était beaucoup équilibrée entre les deux héros, chacun avait des obstacles à surmonter et leur relation a été basée sur une entre-aide mutuelle où chacun était sur un point d'égalité. Ici avec Gunnar et Frankie c'est pas du tout équilibrée : Gunnar n'a aucun challenge à surmonter, alors que Frankie en a au moins 5... Et en plus c'est pas les plus simples.

Frankie n'a pas eu une vie facile, elle n'a presqu'aucun souvenir de son enfance, ne connait pas son père, a une mère recluse qui refuse de lui parler de son passé, et fait des cauchemars violents... Frankie est le triste exemple de ce qui se passe, quand un parent refuse de parler d'un événement traumatisant à son enfant : le taire et faire comme si cela n'avait jamais existé, ne permet pas à l'enfant de se construire sereinement. Dans le cas précis de ce roman, Frankie est angoissée par ses cauchemars et leur possible reflets de son passé, elle ne s'attache à personne car c'est plus facile de fuir.

Frankie est une belle héroïne car elle sait ses limites mais quand elle poussée à bout, elle va certes tombée mais elle va se relever et enfin faire ce qu'elle aurait du faire depuis le début. Elle comprend ce qu'elle doit faire pour aller mieux se force à le faire. J'ai beaucoup aimé le dernier chapitre et l'épilogue en ce sens ^^.

The romance between Frankie and Gunnar is very sweet, but I admit that I'm not a big fan of insta-love. Fortunately, it's only for one of them. I also had a feeling that the two lobebirds romance was advancing a little quickly at some point, even if there are a few ellipses in the story.

Gunnar has a crush on Frankie, it can be understood but give him a kiss and he thinks of marriage, and he is only 22 years old... xD it's a bit too much, a bit too perfect too, I don't think there is any faults in him, it's Frankie who carries all the flaws and weaknesses, and as I write this review, I tell myself that we are on the clichee of the charming viking who arrive on his white drakkar. Luckily, Frankie has the intelligence to save herself, because she had to do things by herself and the "love saves everything" was barely avoided. I left the book with a good feeling but now I am more reserved, reviewing helps making up your mind.

Jiffy Kate wrote about Gunnar's big brother Cage ("Stud Muffin"), and his story was very balanced between the two heroes, each had obstacles to overcome and their relationship was based on mutual care of eachother. Here with Gunnar and Frankie it's not at all balanced : Gunnar has no challenge to overcome, while Frankie has at least 5... And they're not the easiest.

Frankie did not have an easy life, she has almost no memory of her childhood, doesn't know her father, has a reclusive mother who refuses to speak about her past, and has violent nightmares... She is a sad example of what happens when a parent refuses to tell his child about a traumatic event : to keep quiet and act as if it never existed, doesn't allow the child to grow up peacefully. In this novel, Frankie is anxious about her nightmares and their possible reflections of her past, she doesn't get attached to anyone because it is easier to flee.

Frankie is a beautiful heroine because she knows her limits but when she's over the edge, she will fall but she will get up and finally do what she should have done from the start. She understands what she needs to do to get better and forces herself to do it. I really liked the last chapter and the epilogue in that regard ^^.
