Parmi les nouvelles sortie des SPR, c'est la romance qui m'a le moins plu pour le moment. Si le ptit couple est choupi, l'intrigue est ennuyeuse et ne fait absolument pas rêver. Je suis plus sensible à des héros qui ont des jobs du quotidien, plutôt que la pseudo Taylor Swift et son producteur xD

Larinda est une chanteuse de country à succès. Cependant sa vie professionnelle et même personnelle est dictée par sa maison de disque, pour des questions d'image et de marketing elle est obligée d'avoir une fausse relation avec un autre chanteur, Jarvis, qui se prend pour Mariah Carey. Mais Larinda est amoureuse d'un autre, Val, le jeune producteur qu'elle a réussi à imposer pour travailler sur son prochain album.

Alors que la tournée de concerts conjoints de Larinda et Jarvis commence, les problèmes aussi : Larinda découvre après tout le monde qu'on l'a fiancé à Jarvis.

De son côté, Val est en admiration devant le talent de Larinda, en travaillant avec elle, il a appris à découvrir la jeune femme qui se cache derrière le personnage public. Malheureusement, il manque grave de confiance en lui et n'imagine même pas un instant que ses sentiments puissent être réciproques.

Alors que Larinda et Val se rapproche, ce dernier découvre que Jarvis prévoit un scandale sur le dos de Larinda. Et c'est sans compter sur son tour bestie, Chad, que les machinations de Mister Diva vont être contrées.

Et heureusement que Chad est là, meilleur personnage jamais écrit *-* il orbite dans un autre monde, il sort des absurdités complétement barrées et au final son rôle est hyper important ♥

Among the new SPR releases, it's the romance that I liked the least at the moment. If the little couple is cute, the plot is boring and absolutely not dreamy. I am more sensitive to heroes who have everyday jobs, rather than the Taylor Swift clone and her producer xD

Larinda is a successful country singer. However, her professional and even personal life is dictated by her record company; for reasons of communication and marketing she is forced to have a false relationship with another singer, Jarvis, who thinks he is Mariah Carey. But Larinda is in love with someone else, Val, the young producer she managed to get to work on her next album.

As Larinda and Jarvis' joint concert tour begins, so do problems: Larinda discovers after everyone else that she has been engaged to Jarvis.

For his part, Val is in awe of Larinda's talent, by working with her, he learned to discover the young woman behind the public persona. Unfortunately, he seriously lacks self-confidence and doesn't even imagine for a moment that his feelings could be reciprocated.

As Larinda and Val get closer, the latter discovers that Jarvis is planning a scandal behind Larinda's back. And it's without counting on his tour bestie, Chad, that Mister Diva's machinations will be countered.

And thank god Chad is there, best character ever written *-* he orbits in another world, he comes up with completely crazy nonsense and in the end his role is super important ♥

J'ai beaucoup adoré cette romance, elle met en scène 2 héros qui vont se raconter toute leur vie, leurs blessures, leurs rêves... Pensant qu'ils ne se reverrons plus, ils sont plus honnêtes et sincères l'un envers l'autres qu'avec leur proches. Ces deux êtres connectent bien au-delà de l'attirance physique, à tel point qu'ils passent la nuit à parler et s'endorment tout habillés.

Evidemment le lendemain, ils se retrouvent au même séminaire professionnel, ils travaillent tous les deux pour des entreprises concurrentes et doivent chacun décrocher un contrat avec le même client.

Nate et Nathalie sont tous les deux à une période charnière de leur vie quand il se rencontrent, ils n'osent pas l'évoquer avec leurs amis, du coup l'opportunité de parler à coeur ouvert avec un/une inconnu(e) est comme une parenthèse dans le temps. Ils se disent, que parce qu'ils ne se croiseront plus après cette soirée, autant tout donner. Cette rencontre va aussi être le point de départ d'une remise en question personnelle et professionnelle. Nate et Nathalie sont-il vraiment dans le job de leur rêve, sont-il prêts à laisser passer une histoire l'un avec l'autre, y'a-t-il du sens derrière Chad et sa créature mi-sirène mi-cacahuète ?...

Oui parce que c'était bien sérieux jusqu'à maintenant, alors ajoutons un peu de Chad dans cette histoire et secouons, nous nous retrouvons avec des dialogues surréalistes et des situations absurdes, qui contraste avec la profondeur de cette romance.

J'ai trouvé que l'auteur avait bien décrit l'état dépressif de Nate, car il faut pas se leurrer, ce personnage est en train de tomber dans la dépression la tête la première. Et ce n'est pas Nathalie qui va l'en sortir, mais plutôt l'aider à en prendre conscience et qu'il peut demander de l'aide.

I really loved this romance, it features 2 heroes who will tell each other their whole lives, their wounds, their dreams... Thinking that they will never see each other again, they are more honest and sincere than with their loved ones. These two beings connect well beyond physical attraction, so much so that they spend the night talking and fall asleep fully clothed.

Of course the next day, they find themselves at the same professional seminar, they both work for competing companies and must each win a contract with the same client.

Nate and Nathalie are both at a pivotal time in their lives when they meet, they don't dare mention it with their friends, so the opportunity to talk openly with a stranger is like a parenthesis in time. They think that, because they won't meet again after this evening, they might as well tell everything. This meeting will also be the starting point for personal and professional questioning. Are Nate and Natalie really in their dream job, are they ready to let go of a story with each other, is there any meaning behind Chad and his half-mermaid half-peanut creature ?...

Yes because it was very serious until now, so let's add a little Chad in this story and shake, we find ourselves with surreal dialogues and absurd situations, which contrasts with the depth of this romance.

I found that the author had described Nate's depressive state well, because make no mistake, this character is falling head first into depression. And it's not Nathalie who's going to get him out of it, but rather help him realize it and that he can ask for help.

Ce roman m'a beaucoup fait penser à la série TV Chuck, il mélange plusieurs genres : de l'espionnage industriel, une romance entre collègues de boulot, et de la comédie WTF. On sent que l'auteur veut nous divertir sans trop se soucier de la crédibilité de son histoire et je pense qu'elle aurait pu se lâcher beaucoup plus à tous les plans.

Faut pas se leurrer, un stagiaire et sa boss qui décident de découvrir pourquoi leur patron possède des infos confidentielles sur leur concurrent et de rassembler assez de preuves pour le faire tomber, en montant des plans à la James Bond... c'est pas le truc le plus réaliste qui soit xD ... autant y aller à fond dans les trucs d'espion, en mettant nos héros dans des situations relativement dangereuses, histoire d'avoir un suspense, et en distillant des éléments comiques ici et là pour rendre le tout un peu absurde.

Cela dit, le roman est quand même bien et nous fait passer un bon moment. Eva et Marcos fonctionnement bien ensemble (tant sur le côté business/espionnage ^^ que sur côté romance), on a des personnages secondaires absolument merveilleux : Chad l'autre stagiaire et son powerpoint sur les noix en pole position xD.

This novel reminded me a lot of the TV series Chuck, it mixes several genres : industrial espionage, a co-workers romance, and WTF comedy. We feel that the author wants to entertain us without worrying too much about the credibility of her story and I think she could have gone further at all levels.

Make no mistake, an intern and his boss who decide to find out why their boss has confidential information on their competitor and to gather enough evidence to bring him down, by setting up plans James Bond's style... it's not the most realistic thing xD ... the author might as well go deep into the spy stuff, putting our heroes in relatively dangerous situations, just to have some suspense, and distilling comic elements here and there to make it a little absurd.

That said, the novel is still good and gives us a good reading time. Eva and Marcos work well together (both on the business/espionage side ^^ as on the romance side), we have absolutely wonderful secondary characters : Chad the other intern and his powerpoint on nuts in pole position xD.
